SEASSI 2008 VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT

Each team will play every other team once during the round robin “regular season.”  Each match will use the best 2 out of 3 games format with each game decided up to 25 points of rally scoring, which means there will be a point every time the ball dropped. Another difference from the old scoring methods is during serving. If the ball touches the net but still gets over to the other side of the court the ball is consider to be alive and still counts.  In the event of a 25-25 score, the game will continue until one team wins by 2 points.

After this round, the top four teams (determined by won-loss record) will advance to the single elimination playoffs to determine the ultimate champion.  The # 1 seed will play the #4 seed and the #2 seed will play the #3 seed.  The winners of these matches will play each other for the 2008 SEASSI Championship.

Games will be play on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Natatorium Volleyball courts 3 and 4, 5:00pm - 7:00pm starting the third week through the end of the summer.  Tournament schedules will be announced soon. Courts will be available for practice Tuesday June 24, 2008 and Thursday June 26, 2008 From 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Tournament will officially begin onTuesday July 1, 2008.

Each team will select a captain that will be in charge of reporting scores, checking out a ball, and ensuring that their team will have enough players, etc… The first team listed on the schedule will be responsible to check out a ball which can be done with your student ID in either the men’s or women’s locker room at the NAT (Natatorium).  Outdoor balls are heavier and less prone to wind variability.

There will be no officials so players must make their own judgment calls and keep their own score.  Please remember:  This is a game!  We are here to have fun and spend some time out of the classroom, so relax and don’t get caught up in arguments or hyper-competitiveness.  If any call is in dispute, each side should agree to play the point over.
