Traveling to Madison by car

Getting to Madison: Madison is located in south central Wisconsin and is accessible via several major highways. Madison is a:
~1 1/2 hour drive from Milwaukee (via Interstate 94)
~2 1/2 hour drive from Chicago (via Interstate 90)
~4 1/2 hour drive from Minneapolis/St. Paul (via Interstate 94)
~2 hour drive from Dubuque (via US 151)

Getting to UW-Madison

Take I-90 or US 151 to Hwy 12/18
Follow Hwy 12/18 exit at Park Street (Exit 261 B)
Proceed north on Park Street about 5 miles to Langdon Street, turn right. (See detail map.)
Proceed one block to Lake Street, turn right.
Two public parking ramps that charge by the hour are available on Lake Street and are within a five-minute walk to campus.

Traveling by bus

The Badger Bus (877-292-8259) offers daily routes between Milwaukee (downtown and Mitchell Field) and campus. Please visit the Badger Bus Website for fares, schedule, and more information.

The Van Galder Bus Company (608-752-5407 or 800-747-0994) also provides daily round-trip service between UW-Madison and Chicago's O'Hare Airport and the downtown Amtrak station. Check out the Van Galder Bus website for information on fares and bus schedules.

Both the Van Galder and Bader buses pickup/drop-off in front of the Chazen Museum of Art on the UW-Madison Campus.

Traveling by plane

Flying to Chicago and taking the Van Galder Bus, or flying to Milwaukee and taking the Badger Coach to the UW-Madison campus is often cheaper than direct flights to Madison. Shop and compare.
Dane County Regional Airport (airport code MSN), on Madison's northeast side, provides regional and national air service to and from Madison. Seventy-five flights daily connect passengers to 22 locations, reaching 600 domestic and 70 international destinations with one stop-service. The following commercial airlines serve Dane County:
