Here you can see videos of Intermediate and Advanced SEASSI Hmong language students and their various classroom projects at past SEASSIs, plus look at examples of written student work. Hmong Intermediate and Advanced students in 2007, among them a Hmong shaman, wrote, acted in and videotaped a Hmong legend which they set in contemporary Hmong America. Follow the link above to watch it.
Follow the links below to two samples of writing by Second Year Hmong Heritage Students. Note that Second Year Students enter the program with no previous reading/writing knowledge of Hmong language. See the "Curriculum" page (choose the tab above) for a detailed syllabus of this course from several years ago. The writing samples are PDFs and they'll open in a separate browser window.
Below is a link to a sample of an Advanced Hmong Student's weekly "Dialog Journal" from a 2003 Advanced Topics class, also in PDF format. It includes a description of the Dialog Journal concept by the course's instructor, Kao Ly Yang, the original submission by the student and the instructor's comments/correction.
